The following is a list of the core simplified characters. There are 510 of them. If you are learning simplified or traditional chars for the first time, this page can help.

• the simplified form is a character by itself.
• the simplified form can be used in any character that has the traditional form as a part.

• 书 = 草书 (cursive form)
• 杀 = 古字 (old form)
